Where Your Session Happens
At Deborah Longmore Photography, I host Cake Smash photoshoots in my cosy Tamworth studio. I create fun, joy-filled sessions that capture your baby’s unique personality — the giggles, the curiosity… and of course, the cake-covered chaos!
When to Book Your Session
Book your Cake Smash session when your baby is 10 or 11 months old, and I’ll make sure your gallery and chosen artwork are ready in time for the BIG first birthday celebration.
I style each setup beautifully, prepare every detail in advance, and guide the session from start to finish — so you can relax and enjoy watching your little one have the time of their life

WHAT HAPPENS AFTER YOUR CAKE SMASH PHOTOSHOOT?
After your cake smash photoshoot, I will create your final gallery of beautifully edited images.
You will then be able to view your gallery and place your order of your chosen images.

The £100 session fee includes my time, expertise, and creativity during your session. Please note that images are not included in this fee. Image collection packages are priced separately and listed below
A minimum image collection package order of £179 is required per session in addition to the session fee. You can upgrade your image collection package at any time following the viewing of your images.

Why book Deborah Longmore Photography for your Cake Smash Session?
I am fully qualified with the Guild of Photographers and now hold the status as a Craftsman in Newborn and Baby Photography and Master Craftsman in Professional Photography. I love working with little ones of this age! They are fully in control of the session but it is perfect for capturing those cute funny faces and smiles that are unique to your baby.
These studio sessions are the perfect excuse to get a bit messy, eat cake and then splash about in the tub. We will start with a portrait session using a couple of props before we get to bring out the cake for the main event! Then, after the cake smash, is another great photo opportunity! Your little one will love a splash in the tub! Family and Sibling images can also be included.
My cake smash and splash sessions are delicately themed from one of my many pre designed cake smash sets. Some props, importantly the wooden numbers, are also added to the cake smash sets where necessary to complete the theme.
Themed cake smashes are available on request too! Obviously, where you have a bespoke theme in mind, please allow enough time before your session to let me know so that specific items/props/backdrops can be sourced.
All of my cake smash are set up on stain resistant fabric backdrops. Due to this, they are washed between every shoot to remain as hygenic as possible. Equally, as they are freshly used every session, they really are clean enough to eat your cake off!
Is the cake included?
Yes! The cakes I use for my cake smash sessions are 4″ 3 tiered cakes. These are the perfect size for cake smash sessions. After many years of shooting cake smashes, I have learnt that less is very much more with the cakes! Babies can be intimidated of a large and overly decorated cake. As a result, I do prefer using a simple cake with a small topper or decorative item, also meaning there is nothing to make baby gag/choke. If you require a larger cake or more decorations please let me know as this may incur a further charge.
The cakes are made slightly less sweet than an average cake, which is equally important, as many babies are not used to overly sweet food. It is for this reason I would suggest having your baby try a cupcake/muffin before their session.
A questionnaire will be sent to you on booking for information on dietary requirements/allegies. Cakes are ordered 7 days prior to your session. My cakes are made by Quality Cake Company and are ordered specifically to match your theme. Quality Cake Company are able to offer allergy-friendly cakes, including vegan, gluten-free, dairy-free and eggless cakes (see here)
Cake Smash Themes
Themes are tailored to individual clients so if you do not see anything here you may like please just ask!
Cake smashes can also be done very simply on a plain background where requested.
Please allow 4-5 weeks for a bespoke themed session as some products/props may take longer to source. I do not provide balloons normally as I do have a phobia so please check before booking or bring them with you.

Cake Smash Photography Gallery
Clients can view their full gallery of around 30–40 images in colour and black and white. I carefully select and edit the best photos from the cake smash session.. Clients are then able to make their selection of their chosen images/package upgrades and wall art selections
An edited gallery will be available to view 1-2 weeks following your session. If you therefore require your images back for a specific date (such as their birthday or their party) it is advisable for cake smash sessions to be booked 2 weeks prior. If this cannot be done for whatever reason, please advise of the date prior to booking.
Do you provide the cake?
Yes, absolutely! My cakes are provided by Quality Cake Company. Cakes are ordered no later than 7 days prior to the session to match your theme and allergy requirements, Your cake smash questionnaire will be sent to you on booking which requires a minimum of 7 days notice for the cake to be ordered and theme to be added. Bespoke themes require 4-5 weeks notice
Are family images included?
Yes! Full family images tend to be taken at the end of the session and are taken on a plan background.
Can siblings be involved in the session?
Yes, absolutely! Some nervous or timid babies will benefit from an older sibling aiding them in the smash. They will also make some really cute images. Full family images tend to be taken at the end of the session.
What if my baby has allergies?
My baker caters to all dietary requirements and allergies. Please let me know on booking by completing the allergy question section of the questionnaire so I can advise my baker when ordering the cake.
